Turkmenistan calls on Central Asian countries to intensify transport cooperation
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov called on the Central Asian states to activate the transport infrastructure of cooperation and begin to create coordinated corridors along the East-West and North-South routes, the electronic publication "Turkmenistan: Altyn Asyr" reported .
"Currently, Central Asia is considered a major transit transport corridor of international importance. It is clear that this role of our region will only increase, given the shift of economic and investment activity to East and South Asia, the Near and Middle East," the President of Turkmenistan noted in his speech at the seventh consultative meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Tashkent.
According to the head of state, the countries of the region should significantly activate the transport infrastructure of cooperation. "Our countries need to intensify transport cooperation. For this, I believe that it is necessary to begin to create coordinated corridors in the East-West and North-South directions ," Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized.
The President of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that "uniting efforts to create a modern, multi-faceted, efficient, and sustainable transport and logistics infrastructure is a worthy goal that meets the strategic interests of our states."
