The President of Turkmenistan congratulated Guterres on the 80th anniversary of the UN
Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to UN Secretary-General António Guterres on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
"Over the past eighty years, the UN has become a key hub for uniting efforts aimed at ensuring peace, security, and sustainable development. The important documents adopted by the Organization and the initiatives implemented form a solid foundation for modern international relations," the head of state said in his message.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that one of Turkmenistan's foreign policy priorities is long-term cooperation with the UN in areas such as peace and security, energy, transport and communications, the environment, and sustainable development. The President noted that Ashgabat will continue to develop and strengthen multifaceted cooperation with the Organization.
The head of state wished Guterres good health, happiness, and prosperity, and conveyed his congratulations to the staff of the UN Secretariat.
United Nations Day is celebrated annually on October 24. On this day in 1945, the UN Charter entered into force after its ratification by a majority of its founding countries, including the five permanent members of the Security Council.
