Targeted measures are being taken to achieve the goals set within the framework of the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan signed on August 31, 2023 aimed at further development of the National Merchant Fleet of Turkmenistan. To implement shipbuilding projects, Balkan Shipbuilding and Shipyard has partnered with Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd., Korea Marine Equipment Association (KOMEA) active negotiations began between them. KOMEA is an association of 286 Korean marine equipment manufacturers. Thus, one such company is «Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd.» (KSIT). Shipbuilding together with the KSIT company will involve highly qualified engineers and local employees of the Balkan plant in the field of shipbuilding. Yesterday, on September 13, 2023, the Balkan Shipbuilding and Shipbuilding Plant of Turkmenbashi International Seaport and «Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology Co., Ltd.» A contract was signed between the company for the joint construction of two dry cargo ships with a capacity of 6100 tons. As part of the signed agreement, Korean engineers will train specialists of the Balkan Shipbuilding and Shipyard in Korean shipbuilding technologies. A quality management system will also be implemented in the factory, and project work will be carried out to the highest standards of shipbuilding for safety and environmental protection until the completion of all relevant processes. This important step plays an important role in strengthening the maritime infrastructure of Turkmenistan and contributes to the development of the country's trade and transport links.
